Short version:
I love yoga, it heals, transforms and I've been on my mat for a long time. I've learned from the most wonderful teachers and have travelled far to gather knowledge to share. See last paragraph below! xo
Long version:
The seeds of yoga were planted at an early age. I had a kindergarten friend whose parents were yogis. When I would come to play , sure enough one or both parents would be upside down in headstand or sitting in meditation. Snacks served were not the usual pb& j, but a hearty lentil stew or leafy greens served with hummus and homemade crackers. They were bohemian, lively, warm, centered, kind and had this earthy rootedness, a "something" that always struck me and stayed with me over the years.
I re-discovered yoga more deeply in my teens, and in my twenty's raising babies and acclimating to married life, my practice ebbed and flowed. I was diagnosed with Rheumatiod Arthritis in October 1997. This substantial lesson in pain body cemented my return to a steadfast yoga practice. Yoga became for me, a tool for reclamation, gentle excavation and healing. Yoga saved my body, healed my mind, and soothed my heart.
I've been teaching and sharing what I know formally since 2004. I have spent several springs in India over the last decade, and every time I come back it blows my yoga world open and has me again revamping my teachings and practice of yoga.
My learning of yoga has taken me to many points on the compass. Folks ask all the time what I call the yoga I teach and it is simply Hatha. I've been calling myself a yoga anarchist for the past little while, and I wish to cause a revolution in your body-mind so that there is excavation, evolution and that you find freedom in your everyday experiences. My teaching style can be attributed to wonderful mentors that you can catch on my certification page. Come and welcome yourself back into your body in a class with me.
Lastly - I only share what I know to be true, and this is what I know for sure: 1. Chocolate is a food group 2. Love is always the answer. Choose love over fear every time. 3. Sanity is found on a yoga mat
4. Wisdom is found in the pause. 5. Nothing matters more than being kind. 6. My students are my greatest teachers.
